Project Category Southern Africa

Gondwana

Gondwana is a luxury game reserve located in the picturesque South African Garden Route, which offers a diverse selection of luxury safari lodge accommodation from romantic private suites to private villa rentals – perfect for families. The property provides an un-spoilt habitat for the big 5 and various wildlife species.

Goosebumps

As a long-time distributor of hot, freshly baked bread to the retail trade, Goosebumps responded to the increased demand for their products with a centralised production facility. The innovative facility allowed them to process products to a point before freezing them and distributing them to customers. Their manufacturing facility today ensures the efficient production of high-quality baked goods to more than 3000 bakers countrywide. Using state of the art equipment, their modern production processes are powered by a grid-tied PV solar energy system. The system that New Southern Energy provided them helps reduce their electrical bill by utilising the available solar energy.

Vadersgawe Farm

In order to reduce the municipal electrical bill and reliance on the grid, a grid-tied PV solar energy system was implemented for this farm. In addition to reducing the municipal demand, the system was sized for maximum energy consumption offset and is split in to two locations on the farm.

Savute Elephant Lodge

A luxury Lodge situated in the Chobe National Park, Botswana. The site required a completely off grid renewable energy system as there is no grid connectivity in the area. Primary purpose of the installation was to reduce generator diesel consumption and carbon emissions, as previously this site ran on generators only. The remote location adds to logistical challenges of maintaining constant diesel supply.  N.S.E. provided a full EPC/development service implementing complete microgrid and solar thermal solutions, alongside a full AC reticulation across the site. The project included Solar PV, generators, batteries, AC reticulation, and a centralized solar thermal plant with reticulation.  The site now supplements +95 % of its total demand through solar and solar thermal, with an ongoing O&M contract ensuring continuous system performance and optimization.

Eagle Island Lodge

A luxury Lodge situated in the Okavango Delta, Botswana. The site required a completely off grid renewable energy system as there is no grid connectivity in the area. Primary purpose of the installation was to reduce generator diesel consumption and carbon emissions, as previously this site ran on generators only. The remote location adds to logistical challenges of maintaining constant diesel supply. N.S.E. provided a full EPC/development service implementing complete microgrid and solar thermal solutions. The project included Solar PV, generators, batteries, and centralized solar thermal plant with reticulation. The site now supplements +80 % of it’s total demand through solar and solar thermal with an ongoing O&M contract ensuring continuous system performance and optimization.

Salene Manganese

Salene Manganese run a mining operation in South Africa. An off-grid photo-voltaic solar energy system with an integrated battery energy storage system (BESS) was designed for this facility. The combined use of BESS with solar for this off-grid system provides energy security and supplies power to a new processing plant that was recently redeveloped.

Office park in Rustenburg

Solar Energy Africa

An office block situated in Rustenberg, South Africa, the site required a renewable energy system to reduce grid consumption and carbon emissions during the daytime. N.S.E. provided a full EPC/development service implementing a complete grid-tied solar solution. The site now supplements +40% of it’s total demand through solar with an ongoing O&M contract ensuring continuous system performance and optimisation.

Vinimark

Twee Jonge Gezellen is a leading wine estate in Tulbagh, Western Cape. The client's aim was to reduce their reliance on the national utility grid as well as the save money and reduce their carbon footprint. To meet this mandate, New Southern Energy provided a 187kWp roof-top solar PV system, fixing the clients energy costs for 25 + years. 25-30% of their energy now comes from renewable energy resources and, as a further bonus, their solar panels add an extra level of insulation on to cold stores.

Golden Arrow Bus Services, Arrowgate Depot

A grid-tied photo-voltaic solar energy system was recently provided for Golden Arrow Bus Services, Arrowgate Depot. The system’s focus is to reduce the electrical bill by utilising the available sun energy. The solar system will supply the facility with sustainable energy, reducing the clients electrical demand. The system is made up of a roof-mount and a double row carport, saving the client 15-20% on the electricity bills.
New Southern Energy has now completed a second phase, adding 109kWp to the already existing 45kWp roof mount, taking the otal plant size to 154kWp.

Twypack

Twypack is a fruit packing facility in the Mbombela area. Energy is needed for cold storage facilities, processing and packing equipment to ensure that the quality of the fruit is maintained.
