Emnotweni Casino, in Mbombela, South Africa, offers an exhilarating gaming experience with a mix of slot machines and table games. Complemented by a vibrant entertainment offering, diverse dining options, and proximity to scenic attractions, it’s a premier destination for leisure and fun in Mpumalanga.
For this site, we combined a roof top and ground mounted installation to maximise the space available and provide the additional benefit of shaded parking.

A subsidiary of The Karsten Group, Karsten Fruit Packers specialises in fruit packing and cold storage. KFP packs pears, apples, and grapes from January to September, handling around 35 000 bulk bins of fruit every year. Located in the Western Cape, South Africa, the facility maintains the highest standards in fruit packing and cooling, and has acquired GFSI recognised certifications. An uninterrupted supply of energy is essential to maintaining quality standards and productivity.
New Southern Energy produced a single axis tracker system, with generator integration for this site. The system features JA Solar High Efficiency Poly Modules and Sungrow SG110CX string inverters with MPPT trackers that are equally split in power input capacity. The modules rotate during the day, following the sun, for maximum output and move into a stowed position (almost horizontal to ground) at night.

Tiaan Kruger Boerdery is a leading citrus producer in Limpopo, South Africa, that also produces other crops, and farms with livestock.
This BESS solar system integrates with a Solar MD 2.431 MWh BESS solution and a 590KVa generator to ensure a seamless power supply to this site.

Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa (CCBSA), a bottling partner to the Coca-Cola parent company, manufactures, packages, merchandises and distributes the world-renowned branded beverages to the organization’s vast network of vending partners. Worldwide, the organization is committed to sustainable practices and monitors its environmental impact closely.
In 2018, CCBSA embarked on a process of installing solar systems at its 11 bottling plants across South Africa, through a competitive solar EPC firm. However, after commencing work on four sites none of which had reached practical completion, the EPC supplier exited the agreement.
NSE was onboarded to this project to complete the four brownfields sites and install the seven greenfields sites from scratch. All eleven sites are rooftop developments, with grid-tied connections. Certain sites have generator integration. All of these sites have been successfully completed.

Phase 1
A Commercial Fruit Farm in the Witzenberg Valley, Die Eike needed to supplement their energy requirement due to limited availability in the region. In phase 1 we provided them a 702KWp Solar PV plant with reticulation.
Phase 2
As a part of the greater proposal to extend the grid-tied PV solar energy system already installed, an expanded plant was proposed for Die Eike farm. The soler systems voltage was stepped up to medium voltage (MV). The same size as phase 1, phase 2 is located on the east side of the farm. Further, phase 2 has the same orientation.

NSE has developed two solar systems at two Tsogo Sun properties: Silverstar Casino in Gauteng and Garden Route Casino in the Western Cape.
Silverstar:
Nestled in the foot of the Magalies Mountains in Krugersdorp, South Africa, Silverstar casino and entertainment features a dazzling casino, live entertainment theatre, outdoor piazza complete with a big screen, cinema complex, ten-pin bowling alley, Laser Tag centre, health spa and games arcade. Open seven days a week, the complex needs continuous energy to ensure smooth operations of its various offerings. New Southern Energy has now completed a grid-tied solar system in three phases. Phase 1 (rooftop): 500,5 kWp, Phase 2 (ground mount): 540,96 kWp, Phase 3 (solar carport): 1064 kWp.
Garden Route:
Situated in Mossel Bay, in South Africa’s Western Cape Province, the Garden Route Casino provides leisure seekers with gaming, entertainment, dining & event experiences. With a fully-fledged casino and hotel, other facilities include a spa and golf course. New Southern Energy initially designed a 219.31 kWp PV Solar system that is synchronized with the property’s 800 kVA diesel generator. The 482 x 455 Wp solar panels are neatly placed on the various sections of the hotel and casino building roofs. A phase 2 installation featured solar models in a solar carport, adding 366.24kWp to the site’s capacity.

A shopping mall situated in Pretoria, South Africa, the site required a renewable energy system to reduce grid consumption and carbon emissions during the daytime. N.S.E. provided a full EPC/development service implementing a complete grid-tied solar solution. The site now supplements +20% of it’s total demand through solar with an ongoing O&M contract ensuring continuous system performance and optimization.

ANB Investments Portfolio (Indigo Fruits) run various fruit farms and processing facilities across the Mpumulanga and Limpopo provinces in South Africa. These include the BBI fruit packhouse in Hoedspruit, the Twypack fruit packing facility in the Mbombela area, the Du Roi Laboratory in Letsitele and Naranja fruit packing facility in the Burgersfort Lydenburg area. Across all of these facilities, energy is needed for cooling and processing equipment. New Southern Energy installed a combination of rooftop and ground-mounted systems to reduce grid reliance and lower energy costs, which will contribute to ensuring that the quality of the fruit is maintained.

New Southern Energy developed and built a solar system for Howbill fruit farm, in the Koue Bokkeveld region of the Western Cape, in South Africa.
For Phase 1 of the project, NSE designed a 1.135 Megawatt Single Axis Solar PV Tracker system, which is intended to reduce their electricity bill utilizing the sun’s energy. The PV Tables rotate on a single-axis tracking system, using slew drive motors and a central torque tube, tracking the sun from east to west, resulting in a substantial increase of energy produced. The integration of this technology means that the system generates more energy than a fixed PV system. The design also provides for Diesel and solar co-generation and soft load transfer.
The system has already produced in excess of 103 MW of power, which is consumed directly. Phase 2 and Phase 3 are work in progress.

Intended to reduce the electricity consumption bill of the premises by utilising the available sun energy, this 1.1088 MWp grid tied solar system was installed at The Nicolway Mall, in Bryanston. The system consists of 2772 x 400Wp Canadian Solar PV modules and 33 x 27 kW Solaredge inverters. The performance of the system will be continuously monitored by New Southern Energy’s O&M department, and data will be easily accessible through an online portal.
