B-Braun

B. Braun Kenya is a healthcare company that manufactures and supplies high-quality medical products and solutions to hospitals and clinics across Kenya. Given that the company places a strong emphasis on sustainability, and has already adopted various initiatives to operate in a sustainable way, the adoption of solar energy was a natural extension of this ethos.

&Beyond Suyian Lodge

Nestled along an escarpment overlooking a natural rocky outcrop, the soon-to-open Suyian Lodge has been constructed to blend in with its natural surrounds, providing breathtaking views of the conservancy. The lodge draws inspiration from its unique surrounds amidst the region’s ancient rock sanctuary and the indigenous plant life that lives in between the granite edges.

NSE designed an off-grid solar system that features an integrated 1MW battery energy storage system (BESS). The solar system was designed to blend in with the lodge’s upmarket architectural approach and to enable this facility to operate sustainably and independently.

Blackrock Hotel and Casino

Blackrock Hotel and Casino in Newcastle, South Africa, offers guests a stylish blend of comfort and entertainment. The hotel features modern accommodation, conference facilities, and a popular restaurant. Its on-site casino provides a vibrant gaming experience with a range of slot machines and tables. Guests can also enjoy live entertainment and easy access to local attractions.

The Apartheid Museum

The Apartheid Museum, the first of its kind, illustrates the rise and fall of apartheid in South Africa. An architectural consortium, comprising several leading architectural firms, conceptualised the design of the building on a seven-hectare stand. The museum is a superb example of design, space and landscape offering a unique experience to local and international visitors.
New Southern Energy built a solar system for this unique facility so that additional to its historic importance, the property is also able to benefit from renewable energy and operate more sustainably. The system was designed so as to blend in with the distinct architectural design, while delivering maximum efficiency.

Gold Reef City Theme Park

The Gold Reef City Theme Park in Johannesburg is an award-winning family entertainment destination that’s been voted South Africa’s coolest theme park, and welcomes thousands of local and international visitors each year. The theme park offers 16 thrilling rides, seven family rides, 21 kids rides, Jump City Trampoline Park, an underground mine tour, a variety of dining options and retail stores, and many other attractions.

The solar system at this site made excellent use of available land space where our ground mounted carport installation will provide the additional benefit of shaded parking.

Bushvalley Chickens

Bushvalley chickens run a largescale chicken farm and abattoir in Limpopo South Africa. This industry-leading business is run in a sustainable way, focusing on eliminating waste and preserving the environment. Continuously pushing the boundaries of efficiency to ensure affordable pricing to the public/market sector, the solar power generated by this solar system will enable the company to reach efficiencies while maintaining its quality and freshness standards.

Emntoweni Casino

Emnotweni Casino, in Mbombela, South Africa, offers an exhilarating gaming experience with a mix of slot machines and table games. Complemented by a vibrant entertainment offering, diverse dining options, and proximity to scenic attractions, it’s a premier destination for leisure and fun in Mpumalanga.
For this site, we combined a roof top and ground mounted installation to maximise the space available and provide the additional benefit of shaded parking.

Textplast – Ramco

Texplast Industries located in Rungiri, Kenya is a manufacturer of high-quality Woven Polypropylene (WPP) bags suitable for automated filling and packing. The organisation also recycles woven bags for reuse, and aims to play a role in the reduction of plastic in the environment.

The price of power together with Texplast’s sustainability goals prompted the need for a grid-tied renewable energy solution.

Tatu City

Tatu City is a new 5,000-acre, mixed used development featuring homes, schools, offices, a shopping district, medical clinics, nature areas, a sport & entertainment complex and manufacturing in Kenya.
Tatu City is Kenya’s first operational Special Economic Zone, providing reduced corporate taxes, zero-rated VAT and import duty exemptions, among other benefits.

New Southern Energy arranged finance for this project via an innovative crowd funding model leveraging international funders, and built a 2,05 MW rooftop solar system, that will provide power to users in this new development. The system features 3468 Jinko N type solar modules  and 8 Huawei 200 KTL inverters.

Karsten Fruit Packers

A subsidiary of The Karsten Group, Karsten Fruit Packers specialises in fruit packing and cold storage. KFP packs pears, apples, and grapes from January to September, handling around 35 000 bulk bins of fruit every year. Located in the Western Cape, South Africa, the facility maintains the highest standards in fruit packing and cooling, and has acquired GFSI recognised certifications. An uninterrupted supply of energy is essential to maintaining quality standards and productivity.

New Southern Energy produced a single axis tracker system, with generator integration for this site. The system features JA Solar High Efficiency Poly Modules and Sungrow SG110CX string inverters with MPPT trackers that are equally split in power input capacity. The modules rotate during the day, following the sun, for maximum output and move into a stowed position (almost horizontal to ground) at night.
