Kisawa, Benguerra Island

Kisawa Sanctuary is a luxury eco-resort located on the southern tip of Benguerra Island in Mozambique, blending high-end hospitality with a deep commitment to sustainability. Surrounded by pristine beaches and marine reserves, the sanctuary is dedicated to protecting local ecosystems while offering guests an immersive, environmentally conscious experience.

This pristine island has no electricity power producer so solar was a natural solution to ensure that this beautiful lodge has uninterrupted access to renewable energy. NSE designed and built an off-grid, ground-mounted solar and battery system, featuring an 801.15 kW solar plant paired with a 2140.5 kWh battery energy storage system (BESS). This setup ensures reliable, renewable power for the remote island location while minimising environmental impact.

&Beyond Suyian Lodge

Nestled along an escarpment overlooking a natural rocky outcrop, the soon-to-open Suyian Lodge has been constructed to blend in with its natural surrounds, providing breathtaking views of the conservancy. The lodge draws inspiration from its unique surrounds amidst the region’s ancient rock sanctuary and the indigenous plant life that lives in between the granite edges.

NSE designed an off-grid solar system that features an integrated 1MW battery energy storage system (BESS). The solar system was designed to blend in with the lodge’s upmarket architectural approach and to enable this facility to operate sustainably and independently.
